Playa Ancon
Playa Ancon, 12km south of Trinidad, got its name from a black rock on Punta Maria Aguilar that one served as landmark for sailors. Because it seemed to resemble the leg of a horse, it was nicknamed ancona (hind leg). Over the centuries, ocean currents have built up 4km of soft, white beach here, and a few hundred meters offshore is an excellent reef for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Since the late 1980s, Playa Ancon has been developed for international tourism and now hosts several large hotels facing the warm Caribbean. Many visitors arrive on package tours and stay at one of these resorts. Playa Ancon makesan ideal base from which to explore the architectural treasures of nearby Trinidad and the forested Sierra del Escambray. Not as overwhelmed by tourism as Varadero or Guardalavaca, it's a good choice for a Cuban holiday.
Sancti Spiritus City
It has a fuller history, being another of Velazquez's original townships. From the town's pleasant main square wander two blocks south to the Parroquial Mayor, a venerable yellow towered church whose early 16th-century origins make it the country's oldest, and across to the nearby Museo de Arte Colonial.
Topes de Collantes
Topes de Collantes located just 5 km above Trinidad. It is a natural park with more than 12,000 acres of land, where mountains, the sea and cultural attractions come together in one high quality tourist product of international demand. It is a place of extraordinairy beauty and of great scientific value for Cuban botanic, zoology and ecology. This constitudes a protected area of 200 square kilometers with a great number of endemic species of flora and fauna.
Trinidad
The best-preserved colonial city in Cuba, in the shadow of the Escambray mountains, Trinidad was not even linked by road to the rest of the country until the 1950s.
Declared a national monument by the Cuban government this city is very much as it was four centuries ago, the beauty of its baroque architecture and cobblestones squares harking back to a bygone era when Trinidad was a key player in the Caribbean slave trade.

There are many interesting things to see (e.g Guamuhaya Archaeological Museum, Plaza Mayor, Church of Santa Ana, Calle Simon Bolivar....) but the most impressive of all Trinidad's many museums is Trinidad Municipal Museum and a visit to the Taller Alfarero, a large ceramics workshop where traditional techniques are still used is also worthwhile.
Yaguajay
Yaguajay is the district in Sancti Spiritus, Cental Cuba. The Battle of Yaguajay, was a decisive victory for the Cuban Revolutionaries over the soldiers of the Batista government near the city of Santa Clara in Cuba during the Cuban Revolution.

Zaza
One of the most welcoming natural environments of the province of Sancti Spíritus is recognised in the road maps with the name of Zaza. The area comprises the second most important hydrographic basin in Cuba, and is also the site of the largest artificial reservoir in the country, with 113 square meters of surface. The whole region of Zaza, just 11 km from the town of Sancti Spíritus, is ideal for nature tourism, as well as for freshwater fishing and hunting of birds associated with the lake environment.

The Zaza Reservoir, located at the mouth of the homonymous river, offers fishing and hunting enthusiasts an unparalleled attraction in Cuba, with around 50% of the area being used for these activities. In addition, it includes a hunting ground abundant in ducks and quails.

The modest Hotel Zaza, unique in the area, not only has the charms of its intimate surroundings, but also coordinates fishing and hunting trips to the reservoir and the adjacent Agabama River. Because of its proximity to the city of Sancti Spíritus and the Carretera Central (Central Highway), Hotel Zaza is an important point of contact for hikers who want to get closer to the immaculate colonial complex of Trinidad, without doubt, one of the privileged tourist destinations in Cuba.

Other preferred activities by visitors to Zaza are hiking, cycling and bird watching, which are mainly done around the reservoir, although other routes have also been incorporated in recent years. In a nutshell, the region of Zaza is characterized by being a versatile destination and convenient within the tourist scheme of the province.
