Walking the Center

Spend three days exploring the wonders of central Cuba with the Walking the Center tour. Begin in Cienfuegos, the colonial city once known as the Pearl of the South with a strong French colonial legacy seen throughout its many streets and buildings. Venture onwards to Trinidad for a city tour and a visit to the local Dolphinarium before enjoying cocktails at La Canchánchara. On the final day, journey around Santa Clara and the Valle de los Ingenios before visiting the resting place of famed revolutionary Che Guevara before completing your trip with a visit to the beach resorts of Varadero or Cayo Santa Maria or returning to Havana.

Day 1: Havana - Cienfuegos
Morning departure to Cienfuegos, knowns as "Pearl of the South" and part of Unesco World Heritage Site listing in 2005. Arranged around the country's most picturesque natural bay, Cienfuegos is a nautical city founded in 1819 by French emigres. We'll spend the day exploring the town and visiting its main landmarks. After lunch you'll have some free time to continue strolling through the city and its sea-side promenade. Accommodation in a local hotel.
Day 2: Cienfuegos - Trinidad
Breakfast at the hotel. 10:00 am Visit to the Dolphinarium and interaction with dolphins (Wednesday closed). Departure to Trinidad, the best-preserved colonial city in Cuba. City tour including visits to the Plaza Mayor, Romantic Museum, the Church of the Holy Trinity, Ceramic workshop and Bar la Canchánchara, where you can try one of its famous refreshing cocktails. After lunch you'll have some free time to continue discovering the the city. Accommodation and dinner in one of the hotels of Playa Ancon.
Day 3: Trinidad - Valle de los Ingenios - Santa Clara - Havana / Varadero / Cayo Santa Maria
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Santa Clara. On the way, we'll visit to the Valle de los Ingenios which still contains the ruins of dozens of 19th-century sugar mills, including warehouses, milling machinery, slave quarters, manor houses and a fully functioning steam train. After the visit, we'll have lunch in a local restaurant and then carry on to Santa Clara, the most revolutionary city in Cuba. We'll visit Ernesto Che Guevara Square, a meeting place in honor of one of the most prominent and charismatic personalities in contemporary world history, where the Museum and the Memorial that bears his name.

Take a guided tour across Cuba with our Cuban Wonders package. Explore this island of contrasts, visiting grand cities and lush verdant valleys as you travel across one of the most charming islands in the Caribbean. Beginning in Havana, explore the quaint fishing village of Cojímar, a favorite of Ernest Hemingway, before visiting the Hemingway Museum in honor of the famed author. Continuing exploring both the colonial and modern history of this city with a city tour through Old and Modern Havana, complete with rum tasting at the Havana Club Rum Museum.
The following day head west towards leafy rolling hills of Pinar del Rio province, visiting an array of natural wonders including orchid gardens and El Salto de Soroa, one of the country's most stunning waterfalls. After 2 days in the magnificent Vinales Valley, spend the day at a crocodile farm in Guamá before journeying to the colonial cities of Cienfuegos and Trinidad. Complete your voyage with a tour of Santa Clara, the final resting place of Che Guevara, before finishing in either the beachside town of Varadero or returning to Old Havana.

Day 1: Havana
First night in Havana at either Hotel Deauville or Saint John’s with dinner in a local restaurant to start getting used to the Cuban climate and atmosphere.
Day 2: Havana
Breakfast at the hotel. Begin with an information meeting fellow guests and tour leaders about the upcoming tour. After the meeting, visit the Ernest Hemingway Museum and the land of Hemingway (Finca Vigia) in Cojímar. Lunch at Las Terrazas, a local restaurant in Cojímar, a town that inspired the famous writer to write the novel The Old Man and the Sea. Next, a city Tour of the Old and Modern Havana including visit to St Francisco de Assis Square and its beautiful Fountain of the Lions, the Old Square, Arms square and the Place of the Captains General, Cathedral Square and the Bar-Restaurant, La Bodeguita del Medio. Continue to the Havana Club Rum Museum, where you will learn about the history of the sugar cane and the brewing process of the well-known Cuban rum. You will even have a chance to taste it! A panoramic tour then moves on to Havana Parque Central, the Capitolio Building, Havana Grand Theatre, the Malecon (Havana Seawall) and modern Havana: The Revolution Square and Havana University. Return to Hotel. Later that evening enjoy dinner at local restaurant before boarding your transfer to visit the Cabaña Fortress and enjoy a majestic panoramic view of Havana City as well as the famous ceremony known as Cañonazo. Return to hotel.
Day 3: Havana - Pinar del Río
After breakfast, make your way to Pinar del Río province. Visit Las Terrazas village which includes a visit to Moka Hotel, Buenavista coffee plantation and San Juan River. You can also enjoy some optional activities for an additional fee before lunch at a local restaurant. Next, depart to Soroa, located in the Sierra del Rosario Reserve of the Biosphere, where you can visit Orchid Gardens and El Salto de Soroa, the most impressive waterfall in the country. Transfer to Pinar del Río City. Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation in Bed and Breakfast plan in private houses.
Day 4: Pinar del Río - Viñales - Pinar del Río
Breakfast. Visit to Pinar del Rio cigar factory then transfer to Viñales Valley for visits to veguero's farm, Indian's Cave with boat ride on an underground river and Prehistorical Mural. Lunch at a local restaurant. Stop at Los Jazmines lookout for a farewell cocktail and beautiful views. Dinner at a local restaurant. Accommodation in Bed & Breakfast plan in private houses at Pinar del Rio.
Day 5: Pinar del Río - Guamá - Cienfuegos
Breakfast. 8am departure to Guamá. Lunch at a local restaurant on the way. Visit crocodile farm and Fiesta Campesina. Continue to Cienfuegos. Accommodation at private houses or Pasacaballos hotel on a half board basis
Day 6: Cienfuegos - Trinidad
Breakfast. Begin with a 9 hour Tour of the Historic Town of the city founded by the French before visiting Palacio del Valle, and Marti Square. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, drive to Trinidad. City tour of the colonial town visiting the Municipality Museum and Canchánchara Bar to enjoy a typical Cuban drink. Accommodation at private houses in bed and breakfast plan. Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 7: Trinidad - Santa Clara
Breakfast. Departure to Santa Clara. On the way, visit to Ingenios Valley and Manaca Iznaga tower. Lunch at a local restaurant in Santa Clara. City Tour visiting the Ernesto Che Guevara Memorial, the Armored Train Museum, Santa Clara Boulevard and Central Park. Transfer to Los Caneyes / La Granjita Hotel for accommodation in Half board Plan.
Day 8: Santa Clara - Varadero - Havana
Departure to Varadero for those wishing to conclude their tour there or to Parque Central in Havana for guests completing their tour in Havana.
