About Hotel Horizontes Finca MaDolores
Horizontes
Countryside Hotels
If you are looking to get away from it all & back to basics in a rural location, Hotel Horizontes Finca Ma Dolores will meet all of your needs – particularly if you love nature & animals.

Picture the scene as you wake to bird song from the trees & aviary, then relax after breakfast by the palm-treed lined pool & look out on the majestic Sierra Escambray Mountains. Finca Ma Dolores is a 3-star complex on the banks of a river, just 2 miles from historic Trinidad. Set in lush, beautifully kept grounds, you can’t help but relax in the peaceful atmosphere, particularly with such smiling & helpful staff.

Staying at Hotel Finca Ma Dolores is like stepping back in time to a traditional Cuban farm, with milking demonstrations & all number of cute animals roaming freely. Tour groups visit Finca Ma Dolores for its renowned horse treks & you can ride to a waterfall & enjoy the magical experience of swimming in the fresh water. The evenings bring more rural charm with traditional peasant parties in the open-air thatched roof restaurant.

The rustic fare served at Horizontes Finca Ma Dolores is good by Cuban standards. You might be disturbed by the occasional dog or cat in the restaurant but it’s never a problem & only adds to the authentic country feel. The pool has a neat swim up bar, though if the filter fails the water can get murky. You can lounge in the sun & watch children play on the terrace or the more energetic can try salsa lessons. Taxis to Trinidad take 10 minutes but try the walk, where you’ll pass some lovely cafes.

Hotel Finca Ma Dolores is excellent value for money & a great experience for anyone who enjoys getting back to nature. Ideal for families & couples alike, it should especially appeal to animal lovers.

Hotel Horizontes Finca MaDolores will be exclusive with a different tour operator from 1st November 2016.

Dotted around the lush grounds, the cabins at Finca Ma Dolores are spacious & come with a fridge & satellite TV. Clean, comfortable & relatively modern in design, they have good air conditioning & comfortable beds. The maids also leave pretty towel sculptures. This is an authentic country complex so don’t be surprised to hear animal & bird noise through the night.

Guide to Trinidad
The best-preserved colonial city in Cuba, in the shadow of the Escambray mountains, Trinidad was not even linked by road to the rest of the country until the 1950s.
Declared a national monument by the Cuban government this city is very much as it was four centuries ago, the beauty of its baroque architecture and cobblestones squares harking back to a bygone era when Trinidad was a key player in the Caribbean slave trade.

There are many interesting things to see (e.g Guamuhaya Archaeological Museum, Plaza Mayor, Church of Santa Ana, Calle Simon Bolivar....) but the most impressive of all Trinidad's many museums is Trinidad Municipal Museum and a visit to the Taller Alfarero, a large ceramics workshop where traditional techniques are still used is also worthwhile.
